Tissue Profiling

National facility

The Tissue Profiling Facility (TPF) has provided the Swedish scientific community with state of the art and high throughput services, tools and know-how necessary for proteomic analyses ultimately aimed at visualizing proteins in tissues since 2013. However, the decision by SciLifeLab to phase out the facility by 2018 means that the facility from 2017-01-01 no longer will accept project or service requests under the same guidelines as previously.

From 2017 the facility now solely provides scanning of stained slides as an external service to users.

Requests for our other previous services: immunohistochemistry, embedding, sectioning or tissue microarray construction will not be accepted. We instead refer to the FOU-unit at the Akademiska hospital’s department of clinical pathology.

By scanning stained tissue- or TMA slides the facility is able to generate high-resolution digital images of tissues and TMAs. The use of scanned images facilitates archiving, documentation of results, on-screen analyses and annotation, collaborations and file sharing, as well as automated analyses of digitalized images. Both normal slides and large slides can be scanned, and high resolution is obtained by using 20x or 40x objectives. The scanned images are usually delivered as downloadable .svs-files from our servers. The images require the Aperio ImageScope software which is free to download from Aperio.

The cost is 50 SEK per scanned slide for academia users, and 420 SEK per slide for industry users.

We offer a 10% discount per 50 slides scanned (maximum total 40% discount).
